Short Biography:

I, Imran Ahmed, have obtained my  B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Islamic University of Technology (IUT)(OIC), Dhaka, Bangladesh and his M.Sc. degree in the same major from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. Before joining City University, I have worked as a lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University Creative Technology Chittagong (UCTC), Bangladesh. During my graduate study, I have worked in projects, funded by Scientific Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), at Computational Micromechanics Lab of Middle East Technical University (METU). I have also worked at Center for Energy Science (CFES) of University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia as Research Assistant. I am interested to carry out research in Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS), Applied Mechanics, Micro and Nano Mechanics, 2D materials and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Teaching Experience:

  1. Lecturer (08/2021 to 07/2023)

            Department of Mechanical Engineering,

City University, Birulia , Savar, Dhaka

  1. Lecturer (01/2021 to 08/2021)

            Department of Mechanical Engineering,

University of Creative Technology Chittagong (UCTC)

Research Interest:

  1.  Applied Mechanics.
  2.  Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems MEMS.
  3.  Micro and Nanotechnology.
  4.  Micro and Nanofabrication   Processes.
  5.  Engineering of 2D nanomaterials and their applications.
  6.  Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  7. Structural Mechanics and Dynamics.

Research Experience:

1.  Computational Micromechanics Lab (CML),

Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey

Funded by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)

Project Name: Development of Adjustable Surface Plasmon Polarity Wave Guides for Terahertz Frequencies.

I have worked on the theory and the simulation of small-scale metallic structures (e.g. MEMS devices) showing strong size effects

2.  Center for Energy Science (CFES)

University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Project Name: Clean Diesel Technology for Military and Civilian Transport Vehicles.

I have investigated the tribological characteristics of materials in presence of bio-lubricants.

and also investigated the performance and emission characteristics of bio-fuel in diesel engine.
